Netflix Review
For a few years now, I have been a loyal subscriber to Netflix. Netflix is an online movie store where you can get movies sent to your house in the mail. You would think that the movies do not come that quick through the mail, but they actually do ship pretty quick. There are five plans that you can choose from: four unlimited plans and one limited plan. The four unlimited plans allow you to have any amount of DVD’s per month and up to four movies at a time. You can also watch Unlimited Instant play movies on a few devices or via the web. There is also one limited plan package where you have one DVD out at a time and a limit on two rentals per month. The only downside is that you can’t watch any movies via an external device, but you can watch up to two hours per month via the web.
Now, I previously mentioned that you can use some type of external device to watch a movie on your TV. The first two are the Xbox 360 and the PS3. There is an application on both of these game systems where you can watch any of the Netflix movies available through Instant Play. Like watching it on the web, the quality is going to be really good if you have a decent internet speed (at least 1.5 mbps download). I have watched a few movies and TV shows on my Xbox 360 via Netflix, and I have nothing but good things to say about it. I highly recommend it, actually.
Another neat little device that you can watch Netflix movies on is called a Roku box. This is a small box that connects to your TV and connects via internet to watch any Netflix movie or TV show you want that is on the Instant Play. On top of that, there is also a Channel Store on it where you can get shows from networks like Revision3, TWiT Live, and many more. This device is about $80. I have not bought this device, but I am seriously considering it in the near future.
There are a few other devices that are supported, but are not advertised as much as the three I mentioned. If you are going to start a membership with them, I suggest you start with the $8.99 Unlimited plan. I have been on that plan since I have started Netflix and it has done pretty good. I hope you try out this great service because if you like movies and TV shows and don’t feel like going to the video store, this is your new best friend.
